Bookcase status

One thing I'm trying to control about my reading habit is succumbing to the temptation of buying more books than I can carry in my luggage when it's time to move to a permanent place. The bookcase I got is space-limited, city-ish. My hoarder instinct makes it a major object in my daydreams: ship the contents home when I'm finally through with Bangkok.

    I really liked the Harry Potter books. I've never read the Da Vinci Code. I think everyone else in the world has going by the sales numbers. :)

    Interesting list--I've read the Harry Potter books and Anne Frank's tales from the annexe--oh and the DaVinci Code (didn't care for that one). We're alike in that I hoard books too!

    Although I don't have as serious a storage/space problem, I do have a problem giving them up when new ones come in the door, something has to go out. Great list.

    I have HP on my bookshelf too. I want to re-read them this year before the final movie comes out.

    I just finished reading The Curse of the Good Girl. Your book about Gutsy Girls sounds interesting and along similar lines.

Dyslexics and Developmental Pediatricians

Let me begin with an observation on the latter.  Developmental pediatricians in the Philippines are a rare breed. Or that's what I noticed. From society and organization websites, to forums, to word-of-mouth, to my own experience, they seem to be outnumbered by people who need their expertise. A parent of a child with developmental delays has to wait weeks or months to see one developmental pediatrician. Only thirty are listed on the Philippine Society of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. Twenty-five in one Filipino autism blog, and that is not purely DevPeds. A child psychologist, child psychiatrist, and pediatric neurologist are mixed in the list, although they certainly are a big help too. At my son's speech therapy and psychology center I hear the same account from other parents - securing a time slot with a DevPed is hard. They are all fully booked throughout what could turn into a year. You may be lucky if someone withdraws but that rarely happens. I'm playing

Honor, Awards and a Game

We've all been to several weddings but how many of us can say I've been to one in which the maid of honor was a he?
