Tea on the porch

I love rain. Some of my dearest moments are rainy afternoons when I get to read or just sit on the porch and watch the earth getting soaked. And I got to do that this week with

a cup of hot Lady Grey. It's 'fragrant, bright and light... infused with orange, lemon and bergamot.'

Tara Road by Maeve Binchy was a lovely read from all the Grishams, Crichtons and Dan Browns my nose was buried in in the past weeks.


This dream of walking a tree-lined dirt road that leads to a pretty little cottage seems to have intensified in the last recent weeks. I realize it is a pipe dream, at least for now.  So I make do with a flower shop. The sight is therapeutic.

Flower shops, just like book shops are some of the happiest spots people can be in.


For yesterday's brunch I ordered a salad randomly. With mind at work I just hoped it would be worth its price. It was. Some days turn so well, yummy and healthy.

This has been a week filled with blessings to enjoy and be grateful for.

    My best friend owns a flower shop and when I go to NY to visit my family I always meet her there to spend some time with her while she works. Every time I walk in I take a deep breath, I just love it.

    There is something about a rainy day that makes it so cozy to curl up and read.

    A friend of mine used to own a flower shop - it was always fun to pop in and see what was new. I'm not often in flower shops any more since so many grocery stores here also sell flowers, but when I am it is a nice feeling. And even the floral sections of grocery stores are lovely.

    Some of my fave things are good food like your photo and flowers and tea on a rainy day! I have read all of Maeve's books and loved them! And last night my youngest daughter and I watched Circle of Friends based on her book by same title! You had a lovely week!

    Your description of reading on the porch listening to the rain sounds so very cozy. The only change I would make is to drink Earl Grey tea instead of Lady Grey :)

Dyslexics and Developmental Pediatricians

Let me begin with an observation on the latter.  Developmental pediatricians in the Philippines are a rare breed. Or that's what I noticed. From society and organization websites, to forums, to word-of-mouth, to my own experience, they seem to be outnumbered by people who need their expertise. A parent of a child with developmental delays has to wait weeks or months to see one developmental pediatrician. Only thirty are listed on the Philippine Society of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. Twenty-five in one Filipino autism blog, and that is not purely DevPeds. A child psychologist, child psychiatrist, and pediatric neurologist are mixed in the list, although they certainly are a big help too. At my son's speech therapy and psychology center I hear the same account from other parents - securing a time slot with a DevPed is hard. They are all fully booked throughout what could turn into a year. You may be lucky if someone withdraws but that rarely happens. I'm playing

Honor, Awards and a Game
